On the morning of October 23, 2024, commuters experienced significant disruptions on I-90 eastbound due to two separate incidents. The first incident occurred just before Exit 2 at Washington Avenue in Albany, where a crash resulted in the closure of the right shoulder. This area, known for its bustling traffic, saw increased congestion as vehicles navigated around the closed lane. Albany, the capital city of New York, is a key hub in the region, with I-90 serving as a major artery for commuters and travelers alike.

Simultaneously, another traffic issue was reported on the New York State Thruway, I-90 eastbound, stretching from after Exit 54 in West Seneca, near Route 16, to just before Exit 52A in Buffalo at William Street. This section of the Thruway, a critical link between the western and eastern parts of New York State, experienced stop-and-go traffic starting at 8:45 AM. West Seneca and Buffalo are prominent areas in the western part of the state, with Buffalo being a major city known for its proximity to the Canadian border and Niagara Falls.

These incidents highlight the challenges faced by drivers on one of New York’s busiest highways. The I-90 corridor is essential for both local and long-distance travel, connecting key cities and regions across the state. As such, any disruptions can have widespread impacts, affecting not only daily commuters but also the flow of goods and services throughout the area.
